Norges Bank exchange rates, daily, for your AI — the smallest service we run
Not everything in the estate is a Bible engine. Currency Exchange is the smallest service we run, and it exists for the least glamorous reason imaginable: a Norwegian company doing business in dollars, euros and pounds needs exchange rates constantly, and we wanted one honest source of them inside our own infrastructure.
The design is deliberately narrow:
- The data is Norges Bank's, synced daily — 38 currencies against the Norwegian krone. The service computes nothing, estimates nothing, interpolates nothing. On days the central bank publishes no rate, there is no rate. That refusal to fill gaps is the feature.
- The site shows today's rates, charts, and a converter — fast enough that checking a rate takes less time than searching for one.
- Your AI can use it directly: like every Publifye service, it speaks MCP. Connect it and your assistant converts amounts and looks up historical rates mid-conversation, citing the actual Norges Bank figures rather than remembering approximate ones — the same grounding-beats-confidence principle the Scripture tools are built on.
Why write it up at all? Because it makes the pattern visible in miniature. Every service in this house — from the research engine down to this rate ticker — follows the same rules: one honest data source named plainly, an API and MCP surface so both people and their assistants can use it, and no number served that the source did not publish. If we hold the line on exchange rates, you can guess how we hold it on Scripture.
